Format: Microsoft Word doc

Don’t have Word? No problem! You can convert your file using your preferred text editor. For the final review, you can download a free trial of Word or use the free browser version through Microsoft Office.

Sample edit

Once you inquire, I’ll provide a short sample edit (up to 500 words) to make sure we’re a good fit before we begin.

Genre fit: I edit fantasy, cozy mystery, and self-help nonfiction. If you're uncertain whether your book fits these genres, please reach out and tell me more about your book.

I do not edit in PDF, Scrivener, or other writing tool.

This Is for You If...

  • You’re revising your novel and want expert eyes on your opening chapters, but you’re not quite ready (or able) to book a full line edit.

  • You want to improve your line-level writing, but you’re not sure what’s working—or what’s getting in the way.

  • You’re self-editing and could really use a roadmap to guide your revision decisions.

  • You’re looking for a cost-effective way to make your prose stronger and more consistent across your manuscript.

  • You want professional feedback that respects your voice and helps you grow as a writer.

"Very valuable advice about the tone of voice, structure of sentences, and my overall theme. I will incorporate this as I do a rewrite."

Process at a Glance

Here's how things flow once you reach out for a sample:

1. Free Sample Edit
Send me your first chapter, and I’ll return a short sample edit (up to 500 words), so you can get a feel for my editing style before committing.

2. Booking
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll confirm your project timeline, sign a simple contract, and secure your spot with a 50% deposit. (Need a different payment option? Let me know!)

3. Editing Begins
I’ll complete a detailed line & copyedit of your first 5,000 words using tracked changes in Word. Then I’ll create your personalized line edit report—complete with insights, explanations, and a step-by-step guide to help you revise the rest of your manuscript on your own.

What You'll Receive

A line & copyedit of your first 5,000 words

Delivered in a Word document with tracked changes and margin comments—so you can see every edit, understand why it was made, and learn from the process.

Not familiar with Tracked Changes in Word? I’ll include a quick guide so you can get the most out of your feedback.

A personalized feedback report (PDF)

A detailed summary of the most common issues in your prose, along with step-by-step guidance to help you revise the rest of your manuscript. You’ll also get curated resources tailored to your learning style to support your growth as a writer.

A starter style sheet

A custom reference guide that tracks grammar and style choices, character names, spelling preferences, and more—helping you stay consistent and confident as you self-edit.

Price & Dates

Price: $350 (USD). This price stays the same regardless of your manuscript’s word count—keeping things simple and budget-friendly.

Dates: We’ll agree on a start and end date together when you book. Once the assessment begins, you can expect your feedback and edits within 2–3 weeks, depending on the overall condition of the manuscript.

You’ve poured so much into your story—now let’s make sure your prose does it justice.

  • What’s the difference between a line edit and a copyedit?
A line edit focuses on the style and flow of your writing—word choice, sentence rhythm, tone, pacing, and clarity. A copyedit looks at technical accuracy—spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency. My service combines both in a single, thorough pass.
  • Will you rewrite my story?
No. I’ll make suggestions to improve clarity and flow, but I won’t rewrite your voice or story. My goal is to enhance your style—not replace it. You always have full control over what edits you accept or reject.
  • What genres do you edit?
I specialize in fantasy, mystery, and self-help nonfiction. I tailor the edit to your genre, tone, and target audience.
  • Do I need to format my manuscript in a certain way?
A clean, readable format helps a lot. Double-spaced, 12pt font (like Times New Roman), with standard 1-inch margins is perfect. You’ll get detailed instructions once we start—no stress!
  • How long will the edit take?
Turnaround depends on the manuscript length and my current schedule, but typically ranges from 4–6 weeks. I’ll give you a clear timeframe before we begin.
  • What if I have questions during or after the edit?
You have unlimited email access to me throughout your revision process. I’m happy to explain comments, talk through tricky scenes, or just cheer you on.
  • What’s the second pass, and when should I send it?
After your revision is done, you can send your updated manuscript (up to 5,000 new or adjusted words) for a final look. I’ll do a global review to check flow, voice, and consistency. If you have more new/adjusted words, there might be a small additional fee for the extra work.
  • Do you offer a sample edit?
Yes! If you’d like to see how I work, you can request a short sample edit (usually around 1,000 words) before booking.
